Elkoms Consulting is a firm of consulting engineers founded in 2008, with offices in London, Southampton and Belgrade. We design the mechanical, electrical and public health services for buildings across the UK and beyond.
Engineering that gets built
Many of us came to consultancy from construction, and it shows in the work. A large share of our commissions are for MEP contractors who need coordinated drawings and models they can install from, and for developers who need a tender package that prices cleanly and leaves no gaps. We keep the engineering simple, discreet, energy efficient and easy to commission and maintain, and we produce plant and riser schedules early so that space planning is settled before it becomes expensive to change.
Buildings that stay open
Our hotel work has given us a particular expertise in changing buildings that cannot close. At Nobu Hotel Shoreditch and Hilton London Bankside we designed the step-by-step relocation of entire rooftop plant installations so that new floors could be built above them, with every move drawn, programmed and agreed with the hotel room by room. The same method carried the County Hotel in Euston through planning. We survey what exists, model it, and sequence the change so that nothing goes dark unplanned.
Low carbon by default
Heat pumps, photovoltaics and heat recovery are our starting point rather than an add-on. We are helping citizenM take existing hotels off gas, we replaced chillers and boilers with roof-mounted heat pumps at 280 Bishopsgate and 1 Knightsbridge, and our refurbishments at the County Hotel and Hilton Bankside achieved EPC A. Our sustainability team provides the energy statements, thermal modelling, overheating assessments and BREEAM evidence that planners and assessors ask for, so the compliance work sits inside the design rather than beside it.

Since its founding the practice has operated on five principles: the client is our first priority above everything else; we apply proven engineering practice while always seeking better solutions; our engineering is our greatest strength; we take a hands-on approach, with everyone taking personal responsibility for a common goal; and we stay at the forefront of the industry.
Three offices, one team
Client liaison and design leadership sit in London and Southampton. Our Belgrade office houses the delivery team of mechanical, electrical and public health engineers and Revit coordinators who produce the drawings, models and schedules. Every issue is checked and authorised by a director before it leaves the office, and the same team carries a project from the first strategy to handover. We have worked in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece and further afield, on projects up to £500M in construction value.
